Free MLM Leads – What’s The Real Story?

If you Google the phrase Free MLM Leads, you will come up with more responses than you can possibly get to. Are you a cynical person? If so, you are probably saying that there is nothing free, and anyone who thinks so is a fool. In fact, there is evidence to back up the cynic’s position. So is this free MLM leads stuff just all marketing hype?

The easiest and best type of lead, free or otherwise, is a referral. Let’s say you are in the MLM business, and a friend tells you to call Joe. He is interested in Network Marketing, and he is expecting your call. This is a referral, and it is the best of all possible worlds. Did you pay for this referral? No. So it’s a free lead. Right?

Almost Free MLM Leads

Free MLM leads are actually almost free. But that’s a very good thing. Did you meet the person who gave you the referral in a networking group? Is there a cost to belong to this group? Do you have a meal during the meeting? Does it cost money to get to this group? Those sound like costs to me. So the referral wasn’t quite free. And we haven’t even talked about what your time is worth. Your accountant will tell you that’s a cost too, even though it probably isn’t deductible. If you make a sale from that referral, wouldn’t it be a nice gesture if you sent something nice to the person who gave you the referral? Even if it is just a mailed thank you card. There’s a cost there, too.

If you hear MLM leads free, you think of Traditional MLM, don’t you? Friends and family, talking to people in stores and such, leaving DVD’s on gas pumps, and on and on. Well, you may have to drive somewhere to find people to talk to, and you will need promotional materials. Those DVD’s CD’s, brochures, and so on have a cost. OK, so these leads are almost free too.

Qualified MLM Leads

When talking about free MLM leads, we have to find out what kind of leads we are dealing with. If you want to move from lead to prospect to closed, the lead must be qualified. An unqualified lead usually goes nowhere. If you have ever purchased leads, you know that they are obviously not free. And while you will often be told that you have qualified MLM leads, that can sometimes turn out to be an optimistic judgment. With traditional methods, once you go though your list, MLM lead generation becomes hard work. This is where most people quit. If you are buying leads, it can become expensive very quickly, and you may find fewer qualified leads than you anticipated. Frustration begins to set in.

This can be avoided by generating your own qualified leads. Imagine. Free MLM leads that are qualified. – OK, almost free. Using a system to accomplish this will save truckloads of time and end up being much less costly. Even using this kind of MLM lead generation, you will still come up with a few clunkers. The good news is you will end up getting more leads who are interested in hearing what you have to say. Obviously you won’t close them all, but you’ll close many more that you were before. With the right system, you stop sifting the good from the bad. It becomes more like sifting the best from the rest. The system uses the internet to bring qualified people to you. This is almost MLM leads for free. No one closes them all, but your average will go up if you are talking to the right people.

The system, of course, is a proven Attraction Marketing System. These really are not “free MLM leads”. There are marketing costs involved, but your per lead cost can be so low it is almost free. You Have MLM Leads. Now What?

You decided to become an Attraction Marketer. You found a proven Attraction Marketing System, and you have started to learn about the strategies included in it. But now you have some MLM leads. “Hold On! I’m not ready yet!” In fact, some people will fiddle with their system forever and never deal with their leads. You’re not one of those people are you?

Converting MLM Leads

But doesn’t an Attraction Marketing System sign people up automatically? Not really. A good one will give people an easy path to check out the system, but it not designed to move everyone into your MLM opportunity. Yes, a good one will make people aware of your opportunity, and sometimes people will sign up. But you must understand where the best downline team members come from. They are people you develop relationships with. They could live next door, in the next state or even farther away. The key is to build that relationship. These will be your key leaders. In order to succeed in your Network Marketing business, you must develop leaders. So how do you start?

You start by deciding you are not going to hide behind your Attraction Marketing System. You have MLM leads, and you will step out from behind the system and make contact with them. It is the first step in lead conversion.

What NOT To Do With MLM Leads

Once you make contact, what is the first thing you do? Do you tell them in exquisite detail about your wonderful MLM opportunity; do you talk about how no one else in the world has a product like yours; do you talk about the amazing ground floor opportunity they were fortunate enough to run into; do you mention that there is no other compensation on the planet that is as good as this one; and do you say that they better get in while they can?

I hope you don’t do any of that stuff. I hope you take the last paragraph as a list of things NOT to do. If anything will send those leads scurrying back to where they came from, it is those things. Remember what the key to Attraction Marketing is. It is the fact that you represent a solution to these peoples’ problems. Shouldn’t you find out what that problem is? Shouldn’t you try to relate to these people on a personal level? Don’t pitch, talk. Ask questions. Make them see that you have been where they are. Your first priority is to help them understand how the system can put them on the road to solving their problems. If they are seriously looking at MLM, it is definitely a way to help them solve their problems. If they are not sure, be understanding. No one is sure right off the bat. Ask them how you can help them make up their mind. Be sure they understand that whichever way they go, it is OK with you. Also make sure they have evaluated the Attraction Marketing System in detail. It is not possible to make a good decision with incomplete information.

This is a good first step when talking with your “MLM leads”. Obviously, there is more to it than this. Become more familiar with your Attraction Marketing System. It will have the resources to help you learn the lead conversion process so you are comfortable with it.

MLM Lead Generation – The Lifeblood Of Your Business

When it comes to leads, business is pretty much business. An MLM business is just like a traditional business. We all need leads. Even if your business is based on repeat business, if you want it to grow, you need new customers. There are lots of ways to generate MLM leads. Some are worthwhile, some are not.

When you first join an MLM company, your direct upline – the person who signed you up – will tell you to make a list of 100 people you can talk to about your new business. Since I’m an advocate of Attraction Marketing, I’m going to tell you this is a waste of time, right? Wrong. Is this the best use of your MLM lead generation time? Maybe not long term, but you could get some of these people to join your business. Maybe they will become customers; you need them too. But just as important at this point, it gives you a way to practice talking about your Network Marketing company. And you will need the practice. Take advantage of this opportunity.

Traditional MLM Lead Generation

There are 2 major categories of MLM leads generation. Off line and online. The majority of MLM companies will make an attempt to teach you how to do your prospecting off line. There are basically 4 kinds of off line lead generation. 1) Pitching to friends and family. The good news here is that this is a warm market. You are likely to survive. I’m kidding a little, but this may be a good place to start if you’re nervous. 2) Pitching colleagues and anyone else who will listen. I have seen this degenerate into accosting people on the street or in coffee shops. Not the most efficient method. 3) Purchasing MLM leads. This can be expensive and time consuming. But if you like working on the phone, you may do OK with it. 4) Becoming involved in business networking events. This is not going to happen fast, but this is a pretty good source. You must develop relationships with your fellow networkers, and you must give as good as you get. It is also a good source of leads for your MLM company’s products. Don’t forget about needing customers.

These methods are known as traditional MLM lead generation methods. Can an MLM business be built this way? Absolutely. It has been done over and over though the years in this industry. But failure rates are high, and times have changed. There are more efficient ways to find qualified MLM leads. You can thank your computer and its internet connection for this. If you are building something, you can use manual tools or you can use power tools. The new way is better.

These people are not necessarily looking to get into their own business. They are looking to get out of the situation they find themselves in. That’s the problem they have.
