Which Network Marketing mistake rises above all others? Even with all the education that is out there for traditional Network Marketers and Attraction Marketers, this Network Marketing mistake has been number one for a long time.

Recognizing the #1 Network Marketing Mistake

It has to do with where your focus is. Is it internal or external? Here is an example of the #1 Network Marketing mistake. Let’s say you are approached by an acquaintance. He is very friendly and glad to see you. After some brief preliminary conversation, he jumps right in and starts talking about this unbelievable home based business he is a part of. He says it has an amazing product unlike anything else on the market. It has a compensation plan that is going to make him rich and he is looking for a few lucky people who want to get in on the ground floor and be ahead of the wave. It is a pre-launch so all the opportunity is in front of him. He wanted to be sure you were involved, so that you could also be set for life within a few months. He talks very enthusiastically about the business using jargon that you don’t understand. Maybe he’s saying things like upline, downline, or strong leg, or forced matrix, or spillover, or who knows what else. This is the biggest Network Marketing mistake in action.

He did not ask you anything about what you were doing, what was happening in your life, or even how your family was. No, he was completely internalized. His focus was on himself and his MLM business opportunity. He went straight into his MLM pitch without ever qualifying you in any way. The #1 MLM mistake personified.

Of all the Network Marketing mistakes, this is the worst. How many people would this person have to talk to in order to find one person who would want to hear more about this business? A lot. A whole lot. And anyone he signed up would probably not be any better than this guy. This person did not realize that no one cares about his business opportunity. At least not when you are approached this way. Did this mean that it was a bad business opportunity? Not necessarily. It could have been very good. The product could have been truly revolutionary. But when you run across  the biggest Network Marketing mistake, your defenses go up, and you tune out whatever he is saying. This person will continue for a while and finally conclude that Network Marketing can’t work, and anyone who gets in it is a moron. At the same time someone else in the same Network Marketing company is signing up new distributors at an consistent rate, finding new customers, and is beginning to make some serious money. Why? Because he didn’t make the number 1 Network Marketing mistake.
